From the bunch of (sometimes partial and / or conflicting) information (see below) released during the week-end, we may note:
- The delimitation of the Paramo will not be the same as the Park
- Any agricultural and mining activity will be prohibited within those limits (but those limits are still to be released)
- The existing rights of the Mining companies will be respected (under some conditions, not entirely known)
- Consultations should take place with all stakeholders on 12 December to further discuss some issues (but probably not the Paramo delimitation)
- Environmental taxes will be created (and imposed to the mining companies)
It appears that there would be a transition period during which the “legal” mining activities should continue but additional taxes would be imposed…
