Mining Activities may continue?

From the bunch of (sometimes partial and / or conflicting) information (see below) released during the week-end, we may note:
  1. The delimitation of the Paramo will not be the same as the Park
  2. Any agricultural and mining activity will be prohibited within those limits (but those limits are still to be released)
  3. The existing rights of the Mining companies will be respected (under some conditions, not entirely known)
  4. Consultations should take place with all stakeholders on 12 December to further discuss some issues (but probably not the Paramo delimitation)
  5. Environmental taxes will be created (and imposed to the mining companies)

It appears that there would be a transition period during which the “legal” mining activities should continue but additional taxes would be imposed…

Conclusions: … To be continued…

Additional background information

Galway Gold provides for a quite interesting map of Santurban Area where the limits of the Park (not of the Paramo!) are indicated, from which it could be concluded that Eco Oro has a substantial surface of their tenements included within the Park area…

A similar map refers to the Vetas area, clearly showing that a minor part of the CB Gold tenements (La Verada and San Antonio) were already included within the Park limits… (I did no succeed to insert the image…) https://www.galwaygoldinc.com/i/maps/Figure2_Santurban_Area_Vetas_26112013.pdf
