UBC VR experience awards

Interesting/posiitve news: https://stockhouse.com/news/press-releases/2020/06/04/vr-experience-created-by-ydx-innovation-and-the-university-of-british-columbia

I wonder what sort of revenues were generated on this project and what this could mean for marketing for additional projects with other universities.

Could only find a pr about ubc from back three years ago. Check out the award seems like you pay your entry fee and they will find a category for you to win. Lol. Well i guess we should be happy they didn't issue shares to pay for it.

Do you have any reference to this? From what I can find, it seems that there are qualification metrics/criteria for the awards: https://www.ccaecanada.org/en/prix-d-excellence/award-categories The sad thing about the internet is that people will believe fake news. It's always great to post references to any claims. Just my 0.02..

I still don't see any mention of 'buy your award.' It seems like they have registration, nominiation and judging processes.

I see your point it was more inferred on my part. When you see the names of the categories and the number of them it looked to me as ever kid gets a trophy kind of award.

lol.. I know what you mean. Kinda like a 'participation award.' I may have assumed the same thing, but I like looking into these things further. So my natural next step was to read up on the awards, the qualification requirements, the process, etc. Fortunately (for YDX) it seems like this award is legitmate and not some sort of 'purchased' award. This is what provides me with some ...more

I really hope they can swing something in the short term. As i think when they release the numbers we are in for shock as to how bad it is. And those will be pre pandemic. It really wouldnt surprise me to to see single digits again. Daniel has not closed any real sales in North America. And with the pandemic looks like they are changing direction and restarting again. The esports thing look ...more

I agree with this. I would expect to see single digits, but my investment reasoning isn't based on that. I'm interested in how the company is moving forward. For example, we have a Brazilian company who's brought public by (assumingly) a canadian group. Seems like the canadian group may have exited and you have the business operators to navigate their company in a N. American market ...more

You raise some good points. But arkave was first launched in las Vegas a long time ago with very little movement. And little to no brand recognition. Which i find troubling and the other problem is management stake in this company is all but gone and they dont seem to be buying up . Its worries me to see them as employees to shareholders after the complete disregard they have for their ...more

Thank you for this; I appreciate functional conversation (regardless of positioning). I agree that arkave seemed like a promising endeavour that seemed to not get off the ground. The branding around it also has potential. To me, it seems like the company is now finding legs to start moving it forward. I have my eye on their vancouver buildout and am eager to see how that 'flagship' ...more

Its nice to be be able to have an honest conversation without being blasted as a basher and shorter. Like a post on stockhouse will have a huge difference on share price. The potential of vr in my opinion is almost limitless. It does seem to be rolling out slower then i had anticipated as an industry. But ydx and Daniel dont really seem to be able to move the chains. They seem to be stuck in start ...more

Thank you; conversation is meant to be engaging and enlightening. To some people, this can be uncomfortable, espicially at the risk of being wrong or opposed. I think that VR still hasn't gained adoption. I liken it to any major shift that technology has had in our individual experiences (ie: online shopping, smart phones, digital banking and currencies). In our case here, the company seems ...more
