RE: let the truth be told. The Storm upon us. North Dakota Oil Output Hit New High In April-Regulator
-- North Dakota's oil output reached above 609,000 bbls per day in April, a record high that made the state the second-largest U.S. oil producer after Texas, data from the state regulator showed on Tuesday.
The state's total April output was about 31,800 bbls-per-day higher than March, the largest monthly build since July 2011.
Output from the Bakken and Three Forks shale prospects in the state rose to 545,000 bbls a day in April, the data showed.
North Dakota has upended the U.S. oil market since 2007 and its output has eclipsed that of OPEC member Ecuador.
Fracturing technology, combined with horizontal drilling, has doubled the state's oil output since May 2010 and helped it surpass California in January.
Mild winter weather has helped the ongoing boom in the state and output is expected to rise further in the coming months.
Thanks to this oil boom, North Dakota also has the lowest unemployment rate in the United States, which stood at three per cent in April, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
