newmont & Placer & barrick
According to Eric Reguly on ROBTV, Newmont only wants US prop. & in this case Nevada as it has prop. there too(JV). If that is true, then
any thought of a bid for G or VIA sometime down the road may be a stretch. I personally did not think it was a good idea for NEM to bid for Barrick/Placer as a whole anyway, because of the 2 hedge books they would be inheriting. I own NEM shares. I still think/hope
NEM in the face of increasing gold prices, would have to consider
any good (low cost producer) prospect regardless. They are just like
the 'Ferengui' afterall---profit motivated!
