RE: RE: RE: Underperforming the region now
RE: RE: RE: Underperforming the region nowI agree. We have no serious buying and no serious selling; taking a breather as C. Oliver said. And with this kind of volume it really just takes one or two guys that want to sell for whatever reason to drive the price down. We have had lots of buyers since we received Kiaka from Randgold, and the vast majority of those buyers continue to hold their shares. We can't expect the high volume buying we have experienced in the past to be continuous. But with the high price of gold and the updated resource estimate I know the high volume buying will continue at some point. And the shareholders who have wisely held through the current malaise will continue to hold when the high volume buyers come back and this will result in share price appreciation on a substantial scale and in a matter of days. If we had high volume selling and something fundamentally wrong with the company then I would be concerned. The unrest in the country is something to monitor but as they say it comes with the territory. Apparently the unrest started as far back as February of this year when the young man died in prison. So I think that this has been a significant factor in the failure of VTR to appreciate to the $3.00 level at least by now. It seems that the government is taking positive steps; Volta is certainly well regarded by the citizens of Burkina Faso; we are doing some serious community development and will be contributing to the wealth of the country. I think we have done a good job working with not only the government but the citizens of the country. It is not as though we are perceived as the enemy of the citizens coming in to pillage their resources. I know that a move from $2.40 to $1.67 can have a big impact on our respective bank accounts - believe me i know, lol - but looking at it objectively it is not really that significant. I think with the new resource estimate by the end of June, everything will add up for investors, and it looks like the price of gold may get even higher, so we should be looking at new highs by then. The insider buying is encouraging too. Imagine having the insider knowledge of the country's politics that Kevin Bullock would have - imagine the stories he could tell and the analysis he could provide aas to the current government and the prospects for the countries future. Well we are not going to get that for obvious reasons, but seeing him buy on the open market gives you a hint. Have a great Easter everyone. Better days ahead for sure.
