vtr hanging in .. so far

Vtr hanging in so far .. POG staying above 1700..with a huge market sell off.. the gold boys started pricing in a Obama win yesterday so in fact pog is up over the last couple days.. I was hoping for more of a POG bounce but it seems not.. maybe people are having to sell some gold to cover some margin calls.. could take a few days for this to shake out... on another note and outside of VTR ..if someone of you have time .. go take a look at another company EAG and tell me what you think .. I have a small position in this one .. they seem to have some pretty good drilled holes.. market like VTR not looking at this it seems

EAG - don't know anything about the company, but my general thought would be that it might be a little early to be in the really speculative stuff.  I think the established juniors will lead first, but don't expect VTR or the other laggards (eg most of the TSX-V) to do much unti the uptrend's better established in the bigger players.  Personally, I like RIO, AR, CNL, CSI, FR ...more

I keep saying this again and again.... There will not be much upside for VTR at the moment in this market if management does not come out with: 1) a revamped staging development process with improved economics AND 2)  some sort of financing options to help with development costs..... or some deals.  Just look at: - Cluff GoldCluff Gold with Samsung - Gold Predator (GPD) with AF ...more

I certainly expect VTR to be  quality play that will rebound strongly when the sector regains its strength.  The entire gold mining sector has been beaten down and we were no exeption.  The entire sector is at historical lows in terms of ratio to the price of gold.  It is likely that this will normalize and a recovery of sorts will take place, and there is no reason to think ...more

I dsagree.  VTR could do absoluely nothing in the next six months and we will recover handsomely.  We had been beaten down just like all the others long before the PFS for no reason.  We came down for no reason and can go back up for no reason other than that the sector is recovering and returning to historical norms.   The Feasibility study will not b out till next ...more

My 'black clouds' comment wasn't about real black clouds, it was about market perception - imaginary black clouds.  But just because the market is (in my opinion at least) delusional about VTR's prospects doesn't mean it's obligated to come to its senses any time soon.  So even though I agree, the company's in a different league than a lot of the venture stuff ...more

My comment is for "at the moment" (between now and the BFS), not after the BFS or longer term....... It's especially for whoever thinking VTR would jump back to mid-80s by the end of this month, or in ALLEN4's case, $1.00 last Sept.... It's just the reality of the market right now, nothing against VTR of which I am a long term holder. That is right, VTR could do absolutely ...more

ALLEN4 - "....We had been beaten down just like all the others long before the PFS for no reason.  We came down for no reason and can go back up for no reason...." . That is not really correct..... There's always reasons for what the market is doing.... panic selling, low grade deposits, manipulation, leaks about takeover in the works...... whatever, it's just not that ...more

That "Kiaka in the desert, 1g/ton just does not cut it" line is from Brent Cook, and honestly, based on some of his other comments, I think he was just saying something because he was asked, and because that seems like a plausible explanation, after the fact, for why the stock is trading at  $15/oz.   When it was 2.60, the story was all "it's a large, near surface ...more

gold_diggers!: That is not really correct..... There's always reasons for what the market is doing.... panic selling, low grade deposits, manipulation, leaks about takeover in the works...... whatever, it's just not that obvious for ordinary retail investors.... or one just does not want to accept them...... until...... retail investors are the last to know..... .Had I known about ...more

VentureTrader1,  I agree with the comments about analysts providing theories after the fact.  Some of the wonderful advice being offered now might have been helpful when we were riding high at $2.40.  Was the advice there and we were just blind to it in our state of optimism?  Possibly, but I doubt it because I read everything, good and bad, that I can get my hands on when I am ...more

I agree, I think in time the company will get fair value (and probably then some) for its gold, as long as none of those possible major problems derail it before the sector turns popular.  My main point was just that analysts' and market commentators' explanations about 'why the stock price is what it is today' aren't worth anything, because they're just inventing ...more

ALLEN4 - "... We need the sector to become healthy again, and we will regain our health along with the others.   If you are still reading, GLTA!" . Yes, I do enjoy reading your every posts from beginning to end.... ;-)  In fact, I think I previously said something along the line like your post indicated..... . That aside, it's November already... comes December ...more
