Where the cash?

Hey all I've been looking over the financial statements and I can't find $30m in cash they say the have. I see $1m in cash and $30m in marketable securities. Can anyone explain this? I was thinking about getting back in. I originally played the pump a couple of years ago and thinking about trying it again. Shouldn't this be skyrocketing with the price of gold? Somrthing is wrong here.

I assume you looked at what I re-produced below.  From website, go to "investors", then "financials"  The last quarter reported ends on June 30, 2012.  The $30,500,357 is the cash you are looking for.  While its not literally "cash", it would be foolish not to collect any interest on that sum of money, and by short-term investments, some kind of ...more

Thanks for explaining. But there has to be something wrong, why is the price not going up based on speculation? I'm worried it could drop back to .30?

The gold mining sector is just beginning to show a pulse after a devasting two years.  The recovery will start with the larger cap well-known names and eventually trickle down to the micro-cap speculative companies like Volta.  The quality micro-caps like Volta are going to experience spectacular share price increases when the recovery reaches them.  That's not to say Volta ...more

What I am afraid of is that VTR might end up like ADM........ running out of cash after the BFS.... then the sp at 30s, then poof, gone in the 70s?! . I certanly hope that will not be the case and management is doing something else in the mean time to avert that cash crunch crisis in the future. . GLTA

I expect that the world will be a different place by March, 2013.  Who knows, maybe we will be over $2,000 POG.  And the Feasibility Study as well could completely change the economics of the Kiaka project especially if as promised there will be options for proceeding on less than the full capex suggested in PFS.  As well, they are still drilling away, and maybe we will get another ...more

gd1, I share your concerns about an ADM-style buyout that only benefits those last to the party.  A couple of things that I think mitigate this risk at least somewhat: - Most of the money came into the stock (even the really early money at prices at or above where we are now - A lot fo the executive compensation is at prices higher than current (even the recent options granted were in the ...more

ALLEN4 and VT1, I certainly hope VTR's fate does not end up like ADM..... I am in for the long run.... to $2 - $3 at the very least as the Kiaka mine gets developed. . GLTA
