Competitively bid vents? Providers fear worstThe HME News article refers to "... Max Hoyt, vice president of government relations for Lafayette, La.-based Viemed Healthcare." I checked VMD's Board and Management roster, but could not find any reference to Max Hoyt. If he really is a VP, why is he not disclosed - is it an omission or sloppy reporting?
The article states:
Still, Hoyt fears the bid program, with its hyper focus on driving down costs, will create a race to the bottom non-invasive vents.
“You’ll get the lowest-priced equipment with a minimum amount of service and (some contract suppliers) taking only the least sick patients out there,” he said. “The incentives are in the wrong areas. The patient is going to lose and the good providers offering high-touch service will be penalized, as well.”
I agree with a previous poster: This statement is crystal clear and unambiguous (it's accuracy may be another matter), and is very negative for VMD. It contrasts with the more positive conference call discussion regarding CB.
I'll try to get clarity directly from VMD management.
