Copper prices

Copper prices

Do you think that Freeport may be selling the copper as quickly and as much as they can in order to exit? I was somewhat suspicious when I read of the following articles. Here's the links,

https://www.reuters.com/article/2015/01/20/fcx-indonesia-exports-idUST9N0NH03A20150120

https://www.mining-technology.com/news/newsfreeport-mcmoran-to-invest-17bn-in-new-copper-smelter-in-indonesia-4495015

https://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2015/01/26/freeport-start-divesting-stake-2015.html

https://www.reuters.com/article/2015/01/26/freeport-indonesia-idUSL4N0V508320150126

It seems unbelievable to me that such a large powerful multinational miner agreed to bend down for Indosesia's demand for a $17b investment. What would make sense to me is that FCX would just quickly remove it's assets from the country including it's accumulated mined stockpiles, best in ground ore reserves and machinery, cut their losses and then leave.

Obviously, I don't have any near enough information. Anybody else have some thoughts?
