RE: smaller RFID firms more attractive ConnecTerra is based in Cambridge, Mass., and was founded in 2001 by veterans of BBN Technologies Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc. Sun (Nasdaq: SUNW - News), based in Santa Clara, Calif., is an investor in ConnecTerra.
The company has approximately 30 employees, and was looking to fill another dozen positions.
ConnecTerra's RFTagAware software is used to classify and manage raw data produced by radio-frequency identification (RFID) systems, which track the location and nature of items by scanning for tiny beacons attached to them. Twenty-five organizations are using ConnecTerra's platform.
