" MIE is paying a steep premium, but it presumably likes Long Run's assets, which are in Alberta and include (among other things) a large position in the Deep basin. According to its financial filings, MIE dipped a toe into Alberta last November by acquiring a minority interest in Canadian International Oil Corp., another Deep basin producer. It is evidently interested in expanding. RBC analyst Shailender Randhawa, in a new research note, predicted that MIE's focus on growth likely means that Long Run will not reintroduce its dividend, but he still approved of the deal over all."
