Major Shareholders

Sprott Resources Corp 23,000,000
Franklin Resources Inc 16,951,000
Franklin Templeton Investments Corp 10,241,500
Franklin Bissett Investment Management 5,012,600

My point is: Franklin investments and a division thereof sold approx 11M shares about 2 months ago. To whom is the question. i dont think these were open market transactions. And if they were - they went in large lots. But the volume doesnt show the unloading of these 11M shares. Just wondering if MIE has those 11M shares at a lower price than 1.30 (to aid the proposal). Thoughts?

Schlinker. Here's what I can tell you based on my own due diligence: Have a look at the alternative monthly reporting on sedar.  Franklin resource INC has been exiting LRE since March.  My guess is the stock price, balance sheet woes and elimination of the dividend were primary factors.   Volume may be masked by "Anonymous" and use of other houses.  My ...more

With a deal bwetween LRE & MIE so imminent why would Franklin now exit at a very huge loss? Unless they have some kind of strategic plan in place I would say they are fools. The deal between LRE & MIE is going through & will easily get the necessary votes to approve the deal. It's just a matter of time. MIE wants a foothold in the Cdn. oil & gas industry & for 200 mil - its ...more

Refect, I agree the market is completely irrational and does not refect true value of LRE. Any comany for that matter. It rarely over-values companies. That would be too easy for you and me to make money. But, my question more or less revolves around Franklin Templeton (and subs) having issues with 1.30 placement. This 1.30 is far below what they got in for. I thnk Franklin got in around ~3.00 ...more

Sprott openly supports the deal & I'm sure no deal would have been announced unless LRE was more than positive that they had the rquired majority to carry the motion. So I do believe the many groups within the Franklin Templeton Organization will agree to the MIE deal & as with Sprott; see a winning deal. With the Chinese entry comes new & access to new monies. LRE's debt is ...more

thanks for posting Sprott's investments, looks like LRE is far and away their biggest loser, they have actually done very well on almost all of the others - guess you can't win them all !!
