Well... I guess its some explanations for yesterdays actionsUruguay will sell marijuana from April to registered users in 50 pharmacies

The Uruguayan government will begin to sell marijuana to registered users in about 50 pharmacies in April. The two winning companies, Iccorp and Simbiosys, will produce four tons of cannabis per year on tax farms in the town of San Jos. Both companies already collect what was produced after the first harvest.

According to high government sources told LA NACION this is a first production of about 100 kilograms for each company. It is estimated that at the point of sale a marijuana cigarette, with controlled levels of THC, the psychoactive substance, cost about US $ 1.20. A price lower than the US $ 6 that is worth the Paraguayan press in the black market.

"Our legislation aims to combat drug trafficking and control consumption," said the source, who asked not to be identified. "The Cannabis Monitor figures from the University of the Republic indicate that we have expelled 40% of consumers from the illegal market."

Cannabis Clubs: Uruguay bet on tours and tastings for foreigners The public figures of the Cannabis Regulation and Control Institute (Ircca) indicate that 6057 self-cultivators have already been registered and that they operate under the law 33 clubs Cannabis, while the total estimates amount to 12,000 self-cultivators and 120 clubs in the process of approval.

The universe of regular users of marijuana amounts to 55,200 and that number is tripled among occasional smokers, according to the Uruguayan Observatory of Drugs.

The government of Tabar Vzquez, initially reluctant to regulate the sale in pharmacies, estimated that the total demand for cannabis in Uruguay is 26.5 tons. And with the future expendio in pharmacies as of April, previous registration accompanied by a campaign on the risks of the use of psychoactive substances in health, estimates to cover in principle the demand of 25% of habitual consumers.

It transpired that the Ircca made a closed tasting between consumers with the genetic that will go to the market, with low levels of THC, in order to measure its effects. Although the source consulted by LA NACION said that the reparations that exist point not only to the fact that the government controlled drug is of superior quality and more competitive in price, but also less harmful than that derived from drug trafficking.
