To use your analogy, if you are selling your house in the UK - you get a questionnaire to cocomplete on location ofof metres/pipes, roof, subsidence, damp etc etc. You return these questions via your solicitor to them, then we they do their inspection they can validate the information provided and have th opportunity to ask further questions.
Simply put, if enough people are interested in your house there are only so many questions that they can ask, and information from one buyer generally can be used for others.
