Questrade is retail brokerage. why no other broker bother even trading it like CIBC is this their house account or client trading it.

the buyer would pay 20,000 x 1.4 = $28,000 plus any accrued interest which is $30,000 it doesn't make sense for a debenture that doesn't pay interest and has defaulted.

how much does the buyer has to pay the accrued interest? that is $2,000,000 in face value of 6% that is $60,000 interest for one year or $30,000 interest for 6 months. What fool would pay the seller ...more

it's done manually over the counter when debentures are transferred between owners between interest payments but it doesn't apply to 'exchange' traded debentrues. the company only pays ...more

exchange traded debentures are not the same as over the counter debentures. vast majority debentures are held to payment date. why would you sell the debentures with 1 month before interest payment?

that is assuming the debenture have not defaulted. the interest is paid to you on dec 31. or registered owner 5 business days before dec 31 payment date. say you bought 10,000 x $1= $10,000 10,000 ...more

the debentures don't pay interest. the company says only the registered owner of the debentures 5 business days before dec 31 is paid. so you are paying the broker money even though you won't ...more

I have traded debentures and if you want to buy you have to pay the interest as your broker deducts the interest from your account automatically ( TD and Scotia ) ,so if you do not want to pay ...more

if the stock is delisted, you have to pay money to your broker to have the symbol removed from your account. ie.e removing a delisted bankrupt stock. usually the market makers would pay money to get ...more
