Target Production for 2008 is 155 000 to 165 000 oz Au. 60 000 oz of that is hedged at $801. Personally, I prefer a company entering into a small hedge in order to get a mine financed

the hedge-
WGI didn't have any choice re. the hedge! the banks that provided financing to re-open the mine demanded it as colatteral for the loan. too many investors have been waiting for the production

the problem with hedges is that, in the market: 1) when the spot price goes up, the company that hedges gets negative because they can't fully participate in the run up 2) when the spot price

2008 EPS Estimate
With the increase in costs of $1,000 per oz in the first quarter 2008 and over $400 per oz in the remainder of 2008 does anybody have any revised estimates to the 2008 eps? Thanks GLTA

I think the best thing that could happen to WGI is if gold fell back to $775. It seems like every analyst now mentions the hedge book as a big negative.
