Agricola Posted"It seems that an application can be wending its way through the system for some time and at various levels before the public has to be notified."
This Statement is NOT correct.
In compilling their application Micrex (Lornell) can and is consulting
various Government Departments, fine tweeking the Draft Permit Application.
"I assume this is to ensure that a company has covered all the bases in their submission and has (from the government's point of view) reached the stage that it should be put out for the public to have a go at it."
This is Correct as Micrex found out the first time they did their First Submission and retraction.
"Once the public has had a shot at the proposal and Micrex has responded to the input then the Government takes everything as a package and finalizes their decision."
Not quite in the above order but as a simplified version YES.
At this point and time from the information I have received I see the following as being the correct timeline and required steps to getting the required Permit for Burmis.
Consulting with the various Govmt. Dept.and assembling the Permit Application I see Mid Feb. - March 1st. 2006 then the Application will be submitted. Once the Govmt. receives the Application they have three ways to go
A. The Application goes to the Screening Dept.
B. The Application goes to the E I A Dept.
C. The Application can be Approved straight away as they are already aware of the first application and concerns raised.
A & B are most likely the way things will go and this requires about 30-45 days.
This type of knowledge ties in with Leighs statement that things are on track and on schedule by Perry ( except we didnot know what the timeline and schedule was). Certain delays may araise from steps A & or B causing some minor delays. Most concerns will be addressed before the application if Micrex ( Lornell) do their homework with the varios Govmt. Departments prior to Submission.Once there has been a Application submission it will be posted on the Govmt. Web site within 10 days.
So there we have it fellows/Ladies, any short cuts will just make things take longer.
