article from ENR - china nuclear construction

article from ENR - china nuclear constructionSome excerpts from an Engineering News Record article in December: "A consortium...submitted a proposal last February to China's State Nuclear Power Technology Co...with an estimated value of $8 billion to engineer, procure, and construct the nuclear island portion of four power plants." "China's nuclear-power construction program is the most ambitious in the world. Between 2002 and 2005, China's total installed nuclear-generating capacity grew from 2,000 MW to 15,000 MW. China's national goal is to have up to 40,000 MW of nuclear generating capacity on line by 2020." "Besides the four pressurized water reactors for Sanmen and Yangjiang, constrution is scheduled for 2006 for four other reactors..." The article was mainly emphasizing the construction side of things, but nonetheless is indicative of major future demand for uranium inputs. Thought it was interesting, especially in light of the previous posts about uranium juniors and making mad money off the sector. Cheers.
