The Company is engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and development of its resource properties. Its project includes Piskanja. Piskanja is located in a historical mining region with infrastructure for mining, including roads, rail, electric power, experienced miners, and others. The site is situated 250 kilometers (km) south of Belgrade, Serbia, accessible by paved roads. Lithology at Piskanja is typical of sedimentary basins, primarily consisting of shales, marls, and limestone, with two primary gently undulating borate beds. The mineralization is primarily dense, compact colemanite with some ulexite. The Company’s subsidiary is Balkan Gold Corp.

RioArticle from Jan 18 -mentions Jarandol concessions Annual output from the US mines was down two per cent to 115.58 million tonnes compared to 2004. Rio said it had spent $250 million on exploration in 2005, compared with $190 million in 2004. It is about to start exploring at two newly acquired projects - the La Granga copper project in Peru and the Jarandol concession in Serbia. At 1550 Rio Tinto shares had lost $1.54 to $70.40 in a generally weaker market.
