John Ryder's Dianor Resources Inc. has another large batch of microdiamonds from its Leadbetter play near Wawa. The latest drill hole continues to deliver micros at a promotable rate and the size distribution of the new parcel is holding up as well. The numbers seem consistent with what three earlier holes and a series of surface pits produced over the past year. Still, a closer look at the results raises some intriguing questions.
The new tallies
Dianor processed 396 kilograms of diamond-bearing drill core taken from its latest hole. The rock revealed 2,014 diamonds, including 1,135 large enough to meet a 0.106-millimetre cut-off. That latter parcel works out to nearly 2,900 stones per tonne.
The size distribution curve for diamonds in the latest hole was encouraging, especially by Wawa standards. Dianor recovered 172 stones on a 0.30-millimetre sieve, accounting for 15.2 per cent of the 1,135-stone parcel. The 81 gems large enough to cling to a 0.425-millimetre screen produced 7.1 per cent of the parcel.
