Mobile Workforce Solutions for Enterprise Mobility Meets Objectives in Symbol Technologies' Validation Program
Versatile Systems Inc. (TSX VENTURE:VV), today announced that its trio of handheld mobile workforce solutions has successfully completed joint testing at the Symbol Solution Center located in Holtsville, NY. Earning Symbol's validation allows Versatile to offer customers reduced risk with interoperability when implementing a mobile workforce solution with a wide range of Symbol devices, including the MC70, MC50, MC9060, MC9090, PPT8866, PDT8100, MC3070 and the MC3090 over a Symbol wireless LAN infrastructure and wireless WAN GPRS/CDMA networks. Symbol's Mobility Services Platform (MSP) server was used to rapidly deploy Versatile's software to the test devices. Validation of compatibility can reduce development time and test costs, so Versatile customers may benefit from accelerated productivity with enterprise mobility solutions.
The validation objectives were to ensure that each solution functioned on a variety of Symbol mobile computers, including installation, work flow, printing and scanning integration; and to verify proper data communications between the mobile device and the Versatile Mobiquity(TM) Server over a variety of networking connections. The Symbol Solutions Validation Report concluded that, "Versatile's vmSales, vmDelivery and vmDEX applications have successfully met all test objectives and are granted the SymbolPLUS Validated logo."
In addition to validation, Versatile's solutions are now included in the Symbol PartnerSelect Program. This database of Symbol partners allows users to search for and find solutions based upon their specific needs. Inclusion in this database provides a wider audience for and lends greater credibility to Versatile's mobile workforce message, and therefore, increased sales opportunities.
"Symbol is pleased to have Versatile complete Symbol's Solutions Validation Program. Now Versatile's customers can have confirmation of their ability to deploy and support mobile workforce solutions on Symbol products, including MSP," said Pat McCullough, vice president and general manager of Symbol's Solutions Division. "Validation, combined with membership in Symbol's PartnerSelect Program will certainly increase industry awareness of Versatile's ability to deliver mobile sales force solutions."
The Symbol Solutions Validation program allows members of the Symbol PartnerSelect program and certain Symbol customers to co-test their integrated solution to assure customers of high quality and system interoperability. Members of the Symbol Solutions Division work with the partner at the Symbol Solutions Center testing facility to validate the partner's integrated end-to-end enterprise mobility solution using Symbol products including mobile devices, wireless infrastructure and mobility management software. Detailed test cases are constructed to exercise the intended functionality under a variety of customer usage scenarios. Upon successfully completing the test objectives, the partner's solution is granted the SymbolPLUS Validated solution logo, and placement in the Symbol PartnerSelect Program database.
Approved Products:
vmSales is a Pocket PC(TM) handheld application that puts product catalog and customer information in the hands of the mobile sales force. It allows them to create and transmit pre-sale orders in real time from their customer's site to their order fulfillment systems, and create multiple orders for the same location or departments within a location. Complete order history enables better forecasting of future needs. Customizable Order Types and Department Codes allow for any kind of order to be created (such as pre-orders, special orders or returns). Sub-second scan to product retrieval times, means orders are created quickly and accurately with complete flexibility. Orders may also be created from pre-built templates or build-to schemes. Sales orders may be printed via Bluetooth, IRDA or serial connection to a compatible printer. Order data is securely and promptly transmitted back to the customer's back office for rapid order fulfillment. Web Tier Monitoring and easy integration means enterprise systems are kept up to date.
vmDelivery is a Pocket PC(TM) handheld application that gives complete visibility throughout all stages of the delivery process. The application allows drivers to deliver products on multiple invoices to a single customer location. It has the flexibility to dynamically capture and update signatures, make invoice adjustments and accommodate product returns. The truck load may be validated by the driver before leaving the warehouse. Route metrics such as mileage and time stamps may be collected and returned to the host system during the route or at the end of the route.
vmDEX is a Pocket PC(TM) handheld application that allows route drivers to electronically deliver invoices to their retail customers at the loading dock. Multiple invoices may be adjusted, delivered and reconciled during a single session. Route transaction results, including user or server initiated adjustments are recorded and transmitted back to the host system at the end of the route.
"This is an important milestone," said John Hardy, Chairman and CEO of Versatile. "For our customers it is a validation of our ability to deploy and support solutions on the latest Symbol hardware. It also means higher visibility for Versatile via the Symbol PartnerSelect Program, which should translate into increased sales opportunities for us, and more importantly, seamless integration of enterprise mobility solutions for our customers."
