Leeward Capital pumps Nithi Mountain 43-101 report
2006-03-02 18:02 ET - News Release
Mr. Jim Davis reports
NITHI MOUNTAIN MOLYBDENITE PROJECT
Leeward Capital Corp. has received a 43-101 report by Dr. Kenneth M. Dawson entitled "Review of the Nithi Mountain Molybdenum Property." The Nithi Mountain property is located approximately 18 kilometres from the Endako mine with excellent road access and infrastructure. Previous exploration on the property included geochemical sampling, geophysical surveying and diamond drilling. A broad geochemical anomaly, defined by soil geochemical results, extends four km along strike and over one km in width. Leeward holds 100 per cent with no underlying interests.
Dr. Dawson, who is a well-recognized authority on molybdenum, completed his PhD thesis on the Endako mine and the surrounding area including Nithi Mountain, and worked for a time at Endako Mines before joining the Geological Survey of Canada. His knowledge of the nature of molybdenum mineralization and ore controls at Endako and Nithi Mountain provides expert insight into the design of the next phase of diamond drilling at Nithi Mountain.
Dawson states in his report that at Nithi Mountain, "Molybdenum mineralization is interpreted thus far as a high-grade zone with shallow subhorizontal layers extending laterally from this core hosted by Nithi Quartz Monzonite." He notes that the best mineralization encountered so far is from the Gamma zone. This zone consists of quartz-molybdenite stockwork veins, along with disseminated and massive molybdenite in fractures.
A program of 10 NQ diamond drill holes for a total length of 3,275 metres is recommended for the next phase of drilling. This new drilling is intended to infill and extend known mineralization and to evaluate Mo-in-soil geochemical anomalies north and south of this zone. The price of molybdenum has risen from $2.50 to the current price of $25.00 a pound in the last several years. With many applications for molybdenum in pipelines and refineries, and new applications for molybdenum catalysts, the outlook is bright for this energy metal. For these reasons, the company plans to pursue aggressive exploration on Nithi Mountain molybdenum property.
