Amerix Precious Metals Reports Progress at Vila Porto Rico Property 4/18/2006 TORONTO, ONTARIO, Apr 18, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) -- Amerix Precious Metals Corporation ("Amerix"), (TSX VENTURE:APM)(FWB:NJG) is pleased to report progress on its drilling program at the Nova Brasilia prospect at its Vila Porto Rico property in Para State, Brazil. The drill contractor, Kluane International Drilling, has mobilized and all of the drilling equipment has arrived at site, the drillers' camp is under construction and drilling is expected to commence shortly. Amerix personnel have completed the construction of 13 drilling pads at Nova Brasilia and access to all these pads is complete. Two holes will be drilled from each pad to test the width and grade of the Nova Brasilia mineralized zone. In October 2005, Amerix announced the results of grab sampling in the area of Nova Brasilia and the Aracati garimpeiro pit where grab samples ranged from 9.54 grams gold per tonne (gpt) in garimpeiro tailings to 162.74 gpt in the main vein. Four additional grab samples taken by Amerix geologists from the encasing gneissic rock were rich in sulfides and returned assays of 29.68, 4.31, 27.74, and 5.64 gpt. The mineralized zone has been consistently traced over a distance of 2.5 km along strike and is rich in sulfides and carbonates associated with quartz veins.
