Drilling update

Drilling updateThis was posted by downandout88 on another board that was not the ASR board. I don't like to repost other people's stuff but since it was already a repost ... This is from the Aspen (ASR) board. ASR is the operator with a 50% interest in the wells WSR is drilling. This is the current data (April 18) on the first well with an explanation by "rocksarehard" from that board. Lic. No. 5843 Aspen Daly HZNTL 8-13-9-28 WPM UWI: 100.08-14-009-28W1.00 – Stratigraphic Test Hole UWI: 100.08-13-009-28W1.02 – Leg #1 UWI: 100.08-13-009-28W1.03 – Leg #2 Please note new UWI and revised UWI’s for Leg #1 & Leg #2 UWI: 100.08-14-009-28W1.00 – Stratigraphic Test Hole Surface Casing: 244.5 mm @ 136.50 m with 16.0 t Finished Drilling: 13-Apr-2006 Total Depth: 853 m Status: Abandoned Stratigraphic Test Hole (ABD STH) Status Date: 14-Apr-2006 UWI: 100.08-13-009-28W1.02 – Leg #1 Kick-Off Date: 16-Apr-2006 Kick-Off Point @ 532 m Status: Drilling Ahead (DR) Status Date: 18-Apr-2006 Basically what it means is they start off by drilling a vertical hole to a depth beyond which they expect to drill the horizontal wells, in this case as you can see 853 metres. This gives them a picture of the strata of that area , when they find the depth of the strata they are looking to drill horizontally that point becomes the kick off point for the well, in this case again as you can see Leg # 1 is 532 metres The vertical hole is plugged below that depth and that part abandoned Hope this is clear enough . Looks like they liked what they saw in the stratagraphical and they are now churning through the horizontal section , quicker than I thought.
