This is from the Aspen (ASR) board. ASR is the operator with a 50% interest in the wells WSR is drilling. This is the current data (April 18) on the first well with an explanation by "rocksarehard" from that board.

Basically what it means is they start off by drilling a vertical hole to a depth beyond which they expect to drill the horizontal wells, in this case as you can see 853 metres.
This gives them a picture of the strata of that area , when they find the depth of the strata they are looking to drill horizontally that point becomes the kick off point for the well, in this case again as you can see Leg # 1 is 532 metres
The vertical hole is plugged below that depth and that part abandoned
Hope this is clear enough .
Looks like they liked what they saw in the stratagraphical and they are now churning through the horizontal section , quicker than I thought.
