re: LakefieldIs Lakefield the only processing facility for Diamonds in Ontario?
In DOR since Dec, my first Diamond explorer over 25yrs investing.
Usually stick to investing in promising gold juniors, with some exposure to base metals, mainly copper plays.
Committed to DOR for the long term, however it will be my last diamond play.
Turnaround time on samples, drill core and bulks is way too long a waiting experience.
I know patience is required but this borders on ridiculous.
Of our original 22 drill core, the first group (5) sent to SRC 20 Jun 05, 1st result reported 22 Sept., with the 5th being reported last month on the 28th. Five results over seven months.
We have 100 – 6 tonne samples which have to be individually processed, though of note, only the >.85 stones.
I have a feeling our mini’s will be a few months longer. Final reports for the last of the samples could take years at this rate of processing. Also looked at some others in this field. Do we have anyone inside Lakefield on this board?
GEM shipped and Lakefield started processing (crushing) their 500 tonne mini (3 samples of 300, 100 and 100) 19 Sept 05. GEM informed that Lakefield reported, “Design and Logistical Delays”, along the way. Eight months later shareholders are still awaiting results.
Shore also had Lakefield do bulk work, 20,000 tonnes started 4 Dec 2002 at the same time they started sinking the shaft. Final results rec’d from these samples, 12 May 05 and they did their own initial processing on site. This Bulk was all before the pre-feasibility study.
Any thoughts on the DOR timeline to production now?
Originally my thoughts were John could fast-track in 2-3 years, however now looking maybe 10 years.
Long DOR and trying to be positive but…
Anyways, cheers, Mark
