RE: May 10th, 2006 by Luke Luke writes "Basically they want to hire international, independent, consultants and they are definitely not free! If only some Mongolian politicians went down, how would they know if things were clean or not? I think they want real mining experts."
Luke, the last government already hired "international independent consultants" to investigate and analyse the IDP, the development plan that IVN had paid other independent consultants to write...a very comprehensive plan on mine development and what it would take to make happen and the benefits to both IVN and Mongolia.
Then the previous government hired 3 people to investigate that. I may have some of the facts wrong and someone whose been on the board here awhile can correct me, but I'm pretty sure I have it right.
This is like a slapstick comedy, like a three stooges movie, except not funny considering the poverty of the Mongolian people. Its apparent no one is in control in the government.
Then someone wants to build a gambling center and the media and pols salivate. This tells me the M people would rather play the lottery than work. We have that here in USA and its called the underclass; they stay that way because its more comfortable for them and they are used to freebies and have no plan for bettering themselves but instead look to the government to provide.
Maybe its just the city folks we are hearing from....maybe rural Mongols are not like that. Sorry...just blowing off some steam....
