Scorpio's Drilling of the Hoag Zone Discovery at depth includes 43.70 metres grading 65.31 g/t Ag, 3.84% Zn, 0.21% Cu, 2.27% Pb and 0.03 g/t Au 09:00 EDT Tuesday, July 11, 2006 TSXV:SPM VANCOUVER, July 11 /CNW/ - Scorpio Mining Corporation (TSXV:SPM) is pleased to announce additional drill results from the Hoag Zone, a newly discovered, large mineralized body adjacent to the Nuestra Senora deposit. Exploration drilling of an area previously thought to be barren has returned some very wide intersections of mineralization. Assay results for six holes drilled from the 6th Level crosscut (including 2 previously reported) are presented in Table 1. Twelve holes testing this zone from the 9th Level, located 75 metres vertically below, have intersected similar style and widths of mineralization. Assay results have been received for the first 2 holes drilled from the 9th Level as presented in Table 2. Drilled at approximately right angles to the zone, the intersections from these 2 holes are considered to approximate the true width at this location. Peter J. Hawley, President, CEO reports, "This is the first new discovery of a major mineralized body on the property since ASARCO was actively mining the Nuestra Senora,Santo Domingo and Candelaria deposits in the 1960s. It is opportunely located just 20 metres north of the ramp, and is readily accessible for development and exploitation.
