Pacifica Resources Announces Asian Mining and Smelting Companies to Visit the Selwyn Project
Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, July 19, 2006 /FSC/ - Pacifica Resources Ltd. (PAX - TSX Venture), is pleased to announce that several smelter and mining groups from China, Korea and Japan will be visiting the Selwyn Project. The purpose of the visits is to introduce them to the Selwyn Project as a strategic investment opportunity for long term security of supply of zinc and lead. Collectively these countries comprise approximately 40% of world zinc consumption and host major modern smelter capacity that are of interest to Pacifica. The Government of Yukon, Department of Economic Development has played a key role in helping facilitate these visits.
The Selwyn Project hosts a very large zinc resource that has the potential to be one of the few major new suppliers of zinc and lead concentrates in the World. The current $10 million exploration program is defining the full potential of the property. Previous drilling has indicated potential continuous mineralization over a distance of at least 30 kilometres within a stratigraphic unit referred to as the Active Member. Definition drilling of the known resource areas is underway to define approximately 400 million tonnes of near surface mineralization to provide an approximate initial 25 years of production (see February 9, 2006 news release). Recent exploration drilling has resulted in the discovery of three new zones wherein significant mineralization has been confirmed in the Active Member, further demonstrating district scale continuity of the zinc-lead mineralization (see July 10, 2006 news release).
Pacifica's main focus is the exploration of its properties in the Selwyn Project, Yukon that hosts the world-class, large tonnages of zinc-lead mineralization. These known deposits have the potential for large scale production of zinc and lead, at a time when World's zinc mine supply is in deficit and there are few new mines under development.
This press release may contain forward-looking statements based on assumptions and judgments of management regarding future events or results that may prove to be inaccurate as a result of exploration and other risk factors beyond its control and actual results may differ materially from the expected results.
