Product NewsSirit's INfinity 510 RFID Reader Awarded EPCglobal Hardware Certification and Interoperability Marks TORONTO, Sept 14, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Sirit Inc. ("Sirit") (TSX: SI), a leading provider of radio frequency identification ("RFID") technology, announced that EPCglobal Inc has awarded its hardware certification and interoperability marks to Sirit Inc. for its INfinity 510 UHF RFID reader. EPCglobal Inc is the not-for-profit organization whose mission is to drive the commercial adoption of the Electronic Product Code (EPC) in global supply chains. The certification mark signifies that hardware products have been tested and operate according to EPCglobal Inc. standards, such as the UHF Generation 2 Air Interface Protocol standard ratified in December 2004. The interoperability testing is also part of EPCglobal's hardware certification program and demonstrates the ability of certified tags to work with certified readers or printers/encoders. Sirit's INfinity 510 was one of two readers to receive the interoperability distinction at the EPCglobal Europe 2006 conference held last week in Dusseldorf, Germany. "The INfinity 510, now in full production, is in the hands of customers both in North America and in Europe for evaluation. Early feedback has been extremely positive in terms of the INfinity 510's ease of installation and superior performance," said Norbert Dawalibi, President and CEO, Sirit Inc. "Sirit is very proud to receive both the hardware certification and interoperability marks from EPCglobal as they represent the industry's stamp of approval making it easier for customers to identify quality products trusting that they will meet their performance requirements." "We want to enable companies that are implementing EPC in their business to have easy access to non-biased, reliable information about EPC hardware," said Chris Adcock, president of EPCglobal Inc. "This way, companies will be better able to focus on their business at hand and have confidence in the products they select for EPC implementations." "In addition to the marks awarded to Sirit's INfinity 510, two of our OEM partners, Datamax and Paxar also received interoperability marks for their products powered by Sirit's INfinity 9311 UHF reader module," continued Mr. Dawalibi. "These marks endorse our investments in building world class RFID readers that meet EPC standards and ready our customers for widespread RFID deployments." The hardware and interoperability certifications are conducted by MET Laboratories, a third-party, nationally-recognized testing facility located in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States. About Sirit's INfinity 510 The INfinity 510 was developed from the ground-up as a Gen 2 compliant multi-protocol reader and is expected to provide the best price performance in its class. Now in production, the INfinity 510 has an advanced architecture designed to maximize tag read rates and range, simplify device management and support dense reader environments. It can also host complex memory-intensive middleware and custom applications. An array of features built into the INfinity 510 simplifies configuration and maintenance for both small- and large-scale deployments. Installation wizards and the ability to synchronize configurations by reader profile speed deployment. Real-time device monitoring, including diagnostic and statistical reporting tools with user-configurable alarms, makes it possible to proactively track reader health. In addition, remote firmware upgrade functionality enables administrators to apply a single firmware release package to a group of readers without the need to upgrade each device manually.
