drilling starts, BHP Partner Bayfield Ventures partner moves rig to Khurmen Uul 2006-10-25 08:47 ET - News Release Mr. Donald Huston reports DRILL RIG MOBILIZED TO KHURMEN UUL PROPERTY IN MONGOLIA Bayfield Ventures Corp. has been advised by BHP Billiton, its mineral exploration partner in Mongolia, that a drill rig is being mobilized to the Khurmen Uul property held by Bayfield Ventures. BHP Billiton has the Khurmen Uul property (licence No. 6862) under option from Bayfield and is preparing to drill two to three reconnaissance holes in an area with overburden cover in an attempt to determine the potential of the stratigraphy of the area for high-quality coal. The 48,000-hectare Khurmen Uul property is located approximately 300 kilometres to the west-northwest of Ivanhoe Mines Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold deposit and known Ivanhoe coal deposits. Geophysical and geological studies have been carried out in the immediate area since the mid-1980s. Numerous hard coal occurrences have been identified in the general area in the past, as well as porphyry gold occurrences. Very good accessibility to the property exists here.
