Mr. Rogers joins Acadian Gold from Xstrata (formerly Falconbridge Ltd. ("Falconbridge")) in Sudbury, Ontario where he served as Manager, Mines with responsibility for the operation and maintenance of four underground nickel-copper mines. Mr. Rogers graduated from TUNS with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) in 1973. During his career, he has been continuously employed in the mining industry and has gained considerable experience in all aspects of mining, both open pit and underground, including the processing of base metal and gold ores. Mr. Rogers’ duties at Falconbridge entailed managing the mines operations group with a workforce of over 850, including hourly operating and maintenance personnel, operating staff and a multidisciplinary engineering group. Prior to joining Falconbridge, Mr. Rogers held senior positions with Noranda Inc. where he was Manager, Mine Operations for plus 9,000 tonne per day Brunswick Mine (zinc-lead) in Bathurst, New Brunswick and also Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co. Ltd. where he was Manager, Small Mines/Capital Projects in Flin Flon, Manitoba.
