Its segments include Airline and Refinery. Its airline segment is managed as a single business unit that provides scheduled air transportation for passengers and cargo throughout the United States and around the world and includes its loyalty program, as well as other ancillary businesses. Its refinery segment operates for the benefit of the airline segment by providing jet fuel to the airline segment from its own production and through jet fuel obtained through agreements with third parties. The refinery's production consists of jet fuel, as well as non-jet fuel products.

Merrill Lynch lowers airlines Michelle Caruso-Cabrera with Stocks to Watch on CNBC: Merrill Lynch lowers airlines due to Y2K. AMR reduced EPS from 85c to 60c. 10% of the lowered estimates due to Y2K. Rest is due to Canadian Airline revenue deferral. ALK reduced from 70c to 50c. CAL reduced 45c to 40c due to Y2K slowdown. DAL reduced from $1.00 to 95c due to Y2K slowdown.
