Honda production
Honda productionThis may be old news to some but I read a recent article that Honda are ready to have a fuel cell powered production vehicle on the market for 2008. the prototype is finished and the specs seemed quite impressive. Range of 400K on a fill of hydrogen, top speed 160K and the tester indicated that it handled very well. The only downside is the challenge of refuelling sites. If this is the case and others are able to move forward with this tech in the nearer term ,it certainbly shortens the life and practicality of a lot of hybrid applications in terms of cost savings and environmental concerns. They indicated an approximate cost of $45,000. Now the only question would be how will the cost of hydrogen compare to gas or diesel. This may be the only salvation for hybrids if there are limited fuel cost savings. Certainly the fuel cell will be environmentally friendly and that would be a major attraction to many.
