look for a rise on monday...it's officialBUT WHAT IS THE VALUATION...BOTTOM LINE IS THAT...U WON'T HAVE WORRY ABOUT SELLING..IF IT'S BOUGHT AT IT'S TRUE VALUE... https://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20061209.RLOOK09/TPStory/Business Big telecoms kick the tires at tiny wireless firm Look ANDREW WILLIS AND CATHERINE MCLEAN The telecom titans are lining up to buy Look Communications Inc., a tiny player in mobile wireless with a soaring stock price. Look has been up for sale for two months and industry observers say there is now speculation that Rogers Communication Inc., BCE Inc. and Telus Corp. are all kicking the tires. The attraction is Look's ownership of spectrum to provide wireless Internet and wireless television service to 100,000 customers in Ontario and Quebec. Along with wireless spectrum, Look holds broadcasting licences. The company, based in Montreal and Milton, Ont., hired investment bank Greenhill & Co. in October to review strategic alternatives, including potential buyers. This week, the company announced a poison pill plan to help it deal with a hostile bid. Look stock is listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange and closed yesterday at 28 cents, after opening the week at 16 cents. Look has a $30-million market capitalization and is 51-per-cent owned by Unique Broadband Systems Inc. of Milton, Ont. Look and Unique Broadband chief executive officer Gerry McGoey declined to comment on whether the company has received a takeover offer. "We'll look at any possibility that maximizes value." "This process doesn't take very long," Mr. McGoey said. "It's a matter of weeks to invite people. We have a tier-one list of people that we've invited. There are a number of people that are interested that have not been invited." While industry analysts say all the big players are looking at Look, representatives for Rogers, BCE and Telus all declined to comment on the company. Look is unprofitable, posting $6.63-million of red ink for the year ended Aug. 31 compared with a loss of $8.31-million a year earlier. In 2001, it was under court protection from creditors.
