All-time Record High Trading Volume for IBI
IBI established a new record for volume on January 9, and was #1 (by a factor of two) on the TSX Venture Exchange with a trading volume of 11,584,000 shares. In addition, IBI was #2 today at 7,545,000. The Company’s previous volume high was reached on December 18, 2006 with a volume of 10,611,500. In addition to the strength in volume, the Company believes that a solid depth foundation is emerging within the current trading pattern.
Excellence Media Response to Hester Appointment
Both online and offline media organizations have published details of the Company’s appointment of geologist Brian Hester P.Eng, BSc, MA Sc, as advisor to IBI’s Board of Directors. For example, Africa Mining Intelligence, an industry newsletter published every two weeks, wrote about the appointment and noted, “The Uganda government called on him [Hester] to draft its guidebook, Uganda: Opportunities for Mining Investment 2006 in conjunction with the World Bank.” As an indication of the online coverage, if you enter the search terms Brian Hester IBI Corporation on Google, you will get 437 page returns as of today.
Rio Tinto Is World’s Second Largest Uranium Producer
Rio Tinto, with whom IBI recently concluded a sales and royalty agreement for the Company’s Namekara Vermiculite Mine, is the second largest mining company in the world and is also the world’s second largest producer of uranium at 13 % of world production. Rio Tinto has interests in two major uranium mines: Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) at 68% and Rossing in Namibia at 68%. The Globe and Mail published an article on January 9 with the headline “Soaring uranium prompts Rio Tinto to cancel sxr sale.” The subhead for the story was “Rio signals it may expand production.” The article, based on a telephone interview conducted by The Globe with Rio Tinto in London, discussed Rio’s decision to retain certain US uranium properties and a uranium mill.

Efforts being made by Cameco to remedy the flooding situation at its Cigar Lake, Saskatchewan, uranium mine, which was under construction until the water inflow occurrence in October of 2006, are among the topics reviewed in the upcoming Part Two of the IBI Special Report series on uranium.
