SAGD et al
SAGD et alYou ask some good questions Sharky...
Can't be specific myself re: the answers...
Go to Connacher Website & look under OPERATIONS tab for SAGD & Great Divide. Much of what you ask, + more is there....
The term "Pod" I believe, (but more knowledgable folks here may correct me), really describes how the Pipes for Steam & Oil extraction are laid out in groups. Pod 1 will be up & running by August or perhaps earlier -according to the most recent Mgt. News Release.
It will take some time to turn the "Sand Trapped Ooze" into flowing Bitumen. Should start to produce in a couple of Months as heat builds up, then accelerate to Max. 10,000 bbl/day in 2008.
The Tank Farm, and the Steam Plant, + other necessary Equipment & Controls will compliment all other future Pods & may/ will need expansion as the Project advances.
Pods will not come on stream in rapid fashion, as regulatory filings, planning permission, not to mention working pipes into Muskeg (like your Peat Bogs) etc. require much work & red tape + Frozen Ground to bore into. It's only that cold in Ft. McMurray about 4-5 Months a year! Ha Ha
Since Connacher is already profitable (see 3rd Quarter results posted by others), future costs to expand facilities are easily mitigated, and Pod 1 Oil production $$$$$'s won't hurt either. It only gets more profitable from here.
Hope this helps somewhat....Go CLL!!!
