RE: Doing Business in ChinaKey in ‘China unrest’ in Google and you get quite a few stories on how unrest is increasing every year. While I don’t dispute the potential financial benefits of selling goods to the increasingly large middle class in China, I wonder how the growing unrest will resolve itself under communist rule. What impact would a possibly abrupt and less than peaceful resolution have on small companies like Westaim doing business there?
Assuming Ifire ends up on store shelves, I sometimes question whether or not our investments would not be better served by keeping production in geographical locations with a more democratic style of government and a proven respect for patents. I certainly hope that if Westaim does business in China, it will be via a partner with very deep pockets, many other financial interest there, and one who is not limited to China when it comes to production and distribution.
