RE: Minor news update. Win CE6 Support (yawn)::Where is this news release you are referring to? The link is to a site that provides information on Windows Devices. Was there a formal release or is this just information being reported?::
It was more of a news alert, not a news release. Sorry for the confusion. Since everyone is starved for news on Intrinsyc, I'd thought I'd toss a few crumbs out.
:::I am still perplexed by the lack of a new release on Soleus for the CES ealier this month. If this event was instead intended to focus in on "engineering services" and not "Soleus" then why not a news release on the significant engineering contract rather than wait until the quarterly report? Very confusing and perhaps a good rationale for the Shelton Group being brought onboard.:::
Well it all has to do with their super secret non-disclosure agreements that the OEM's signed.
IR used some very backward logic when I first asked about the number of OEM's that had signed up a year ago.
You can ask them yourselves and the conversation might go something like this:
Me: "Which OEM's have signed up to market the Soleus phone?"
IR: "We can't release that information because of the ND agreements."
Me: "Do you have any OEM's signed up".
IR: "If I told you that, it would break the non-disclosure agreement".
Me: "Well, if no OEM has signed a non-disclosure agreement, what prevents you from telling me that?"
IR: The non-disclosure agreement.
Me: Huh?
Logic is not one of their strong suits.
I knew something was wrong when the price was around $1.25, and they didn't announce any OEM's at Barcelona. Then I was told ICS was quite confident they would sign up at least one OEM every quarter in '06 starting in June. So I stayed onboard because I was expecting at least 3 OEM's by the end of '06 (big mistake). When they re-hashed the Wistron deal for their June "OEM" that's when I realized the king didn't have any clothes. And when I called back they told me I misunderstood and they really meant to say they were going to be releasing an "ODM" every quarter, and not an "OEM", and look, Ginwave just signed up, see! I asked how are you going to be making money from Ginwave and Wistron, they said its not that kind of contract. My attitude is, signing contracts with someone that won't be making money, is a non-event. They can sign up 100 ODM's and it won't make a difference to their bottom line.
So with all this BS thrown at me over the past year, I have come to the conclusion they don't have any OEM's signed up. I am going to be as negative as possible with this company until they actually can verify that they have OEM's signed to a contract. The past year has been nothing but innuendo and rumor (smoke and mirrors). Maybe some of that smoke came from them burning through all my money.
But as I said before, this company has been around for 10 years, burnt through soemthing like $50+ million, and what do they have to show for it? What successful product have they had in the past 10 years? Gizmondo??? [rofl]
Now let's say they do launch Soleus with 3 or 4 OEM's and it sells well for the first year. How long is that success going to last? Does ICS have any patents on Soleus so they can protect it? Or is some Asian developer (China? Korea?) going to duplicate what they've done for a fraction of the price? Soleus is after all built from Windows CE which is publically available for license to anyone. ICS is not like RIM that had patents on their hardware and software so they could dominate their marketplace for 10 years. Does ICS have any protection from Win CE competitors?
So what does the future hold for ICS. I for one will be a skeptic. If they sign up OEM's this year or next, I'll be on board and ride it up to a buck or two. But when the climate changes and the stock starts to falter (I can now smell BS half a mile away), I'll be happy to short this sucker back down to $.30 and get my original investment back.
