TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 28, 2007) - Amerix Precious Metals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:APM) (FRANKFURT:NJG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lawrence Snee (PhD) as Vice President - Exploration, and Dr. Charles Thorman (PhD) as a Technical Advisor to the Company. Mr. Keith Laskowski has been appointed to the Board of Directors.
Dr. Snee brings more than 30 years of experience as an exploration geologist, research geologist, and university professor, and is retired from the U.S. Geological Survey. Larry has conducted research on mineral deposits throughout the world, and managed teams of geologists, throughout the course of his career. He has worked in Brazil and investigated high-sulfidation epithermal systems in the Tapajos gold province, in addition to authoring or co-authoring more than 300 articles on mineral deposits and associated geology throughout the world. Dr. Snee is the owner of Global Gem and Geology LLC, and holds an emeritus research position with the U.S.G.S. He continues his involvement with field and laboratory studies through the U.S.G.S., and the Australian Research Council. Dr. Snee earned a PhD. and MSc. from The Ohio State University in Geology and Geochemistry, and a B.Sc. degree in Geology, Chemistry, and Biology from Florida State University. Dr. Snee brings a unique blend of extraordinary technical knowledge and field experience to the Company's programs in Brazil. Dr. Snee has been awarded the option to purchase up to 200,000 common shares of the Company at a price of $0.29, until February 28, 2012.
Dr. Thorman will continue with the company as Technical Advisor, after serving as the Company's Executive Vice President of Exploration and a Director from 1997-2005. Chuck brings more than 45 years of experience as an exploration geologist, research geologist, and university professor. He retired from the U.S.G.S. after serving as a research geologist and Branch Chief of the Central Mineral Resources from 1971-95. Chuck serves as a Geologist Emeritus of the U.S.G.S., and has consulted extensively with the Brazilian geological survey (CPRM), Brazilian mining companies, and Brazilian university professors. He has authored or co-authored more than 140 publications on geology and mineral resources of Brazil, Liberia, and central and western United States, including the Tectono-Geological map of Brazil (1995) and The Mineral Economy of Brazil in 1999. Dr. Thorman received his MSc and PhD. from the University of Washington, and his BSc. from the University of Redlands. Dr. Thorman is a Fellow with the Society of Economic Geologists, a member of American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Sociedade Brasileira de Geologia, the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, and is a Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101.
