PDIP and Gestion Resources to Merge
11th September 2006
PDIP are pleased to announce that they are currently negotiating a merger with Gestion Resources Ltd, a fellow interest holder in the Port au Port Project. The merged company, which will retain the name PDI Production Inc., will hold a 60% working interest in the lease and licenses associated with the Project. It is anticipated that a deal will be agreed shortly.
The merger will enable the Board of PDIP to focus on raising funds for development of the assets and to communicate more effectively with CIVC on project activities and requirements. The parties involved believe that this streamlining will contribute positively to the smooth running of the Project, introducing efficiencies that will allow the interest holders to build on the significant progress that has already been made.
Alan Minty is to be appointed Chairman of the merged company. Alan has degrees in both engineering and business studies, is a trained management consultant and qualified as a Chartered Engineer. He has worked in the mining, steel and petrochemical industries, as well as having extensive experience of the oil and gas industry worldwide, having worked initially for the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate and subsequently for various oil majors, either directly or on project. Much of Alan's experience since 1994, when he was first engaged by Hibernia Management and Development Company, has been in Atlantic Canada, and in particular Newfoundland.
As CEO of ENEGI prior to the sale of that company to Canadian Imperial Venture Corp., Alan has worked closely with Steve Millan (CEO of CIVC) to bring the Project to where it is now. He handled much of the negotiation required to bring the deal together and was instrumental in gaining agreement from CIVC Creditor Corp and other investors, without which the parties would have been unable to move forward. PDIP believe that Alan's experience, coupled with his detailed knowledge of the Port au Port Project, will prove invaluable in the coming months.
