Storm Cat Energy Corp. (TSX: SME; AMEX: SCU)
As seasoned subscribers know, Storm Cat Energy Corp. (TSX: SME; AMEX: SCU) is an independent oil and gas company focused on the pursuit, exploration and development of gas reserves from shale, coal beds and tight sand formations.
On Tuesday the company updated shareholders on several of their projects. The following is a brief overview of those updates.
Powder River BasinStorm Cat operates on 41,740 acres in the Powder River Basin, running 277 wells as well as holding interest in 41 non-operated wells. The company's 2006 drilling program produced 86 wells in the Northeast Spotted Horse and Jamison/Twenty Mile areas. By 2007, the production rate was 15 MMcf/d of natural gas and 8 MMcf/d net. Drilling in 2007 will focus four rigs on the Recluse and Sheridan areas.
Fayetteville Shale The Arkoma Basin hosts Storm Cat's shale operations. They currently own or control 20,051 gross acres. The company expects to begin drilling six targeted wells by mid 2007. For now, Storm Cat is focusing on drilling and vendor negotiations. A pipeline is also being planned for the location. Storm Cat is presently working on 14 wells, with between 1% and 8% working interest.
Elk Valley Storm Cat completed five wells at the end of 2006 and determining the most efficient way to finish these wells. They are currently in the de-watering stage. The company is evaluating the capability of this property and hopes to reach a successful strategy for production in 2007.
Alberta Projects At the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in Alberta, Storm Cat completed five wells throughout 2006 and is about to engage in further drilling at Horseshoe Canyon and Mannville Coals. They anticipate that this will lead to prospects in several new areas for 2007 drilling.
