RAE could be "Huge"https://www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca/english/mines/geology/geology-spots-hot-base.jsp Uranium along the east coast of Ungava Bay by Serge Perreault, Resident Geologist, Val-d'Or Office October 16, 2006 NTS map: Location: Geological Province: Commodities: Operator: Owner: Project or property: 24I/05, 06, 11, 12 Kangiqsualujjuaq Torngat Orogen uranium Northwestern Mineral Ventures Inc. and Azimut Exploration Inc. Exploration Azimut Inc. Rae Economic Geology According to partners Azimut Exploration and Northwestern Mineral Ventures, uranium mineralization occurs in pegmatitic, granitic and gneissic rocks. Uraninite was observed in two locations and confirmed by microprobe analysis. A total of 186 rock samples were analyzed. In addition to the results mentioned above, 41 samples collected from 33 outcrops and 8 boulders yielded values ranging from 100 to 500 ppm U3O8 and the remaining 128 samples yielded grades lower than 100 ppm U3O8. The main mineralized zone extends for 4.3 km along strike. It is characterized by anomalous radiometric values (2,000 to 30,000 counts per second). Uranium anomalies were also detected in lake sediments, and a preliminary analysis of the heliborne radiometric survey revealed the presence of 14 anomalies with strike lengths of more than one kilometre, 7 of which are more than three kilometres in length. Mineral Potential Several uranium anomalies were defined in the Rivière Koroc area (NTS sheet 24I) following the regional lake sediment geochemistry survey conducted by the Department and private partners. The area targeted by Azimut Exploration Inc. and Northwestern Mineral Ventures Inc. shows many similarities with ore deposits in Rössing, Namibia (production of 3,711 tonnes at an average grade of 330 ppm U in 2005, representing 7.7% of worldwide production, Rössing Mine Plc) and in Madawaska, Ontario (total production of 4.54 mt at 0.0997% U3O8 and 4,295,281 kg U between 1957 and 1982; Griffith, J.W., 1982, In: Uranium Deposits of Canada, CIM special volume 33, p. 68). /www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca/mines/geologie/images/uranium-azimut_g.jpg>
