Not for a moment saying this kind of installation would be effective or desirable for OT (and it'll be waaay too late; the first test won't even go in until 2012, if at all), but it's an interesting idea with regards to providing power to remote locations. The idea of a 'fixed' power lifetime dovetails more readily with exploiting such an asset (mine life) , than it does with basic human habitation.
I'm assuming that if they go ahead, they'll start with a large bank of diesels on site??? Or would that cost be prohibitive for what they need to do...
