Re: Barrio - Grasshawper & Merelee!Re: "You write good info merelee, stick to fni and sudbury instead of spanish translations. no offense intended, just trying to maintain your credibility among spanish speakers"
To Grasshawper & Merelee,
I am certainly no Spanish speaker, but after examination of the https://freetranslation.com website, I think that Merelee is perhaps almost spot on here on "Barrio"! After all, she was recently on vacation in Spain, and probably picked up this phrase first hand!
This is what I discovered on Freetranslation.com from the English > Spanish & Spanish > English sections:-
barrio = neighbourhood
barrio bajo = slum (as mentioned by Merelee)
barra = bar
burdel = brot*el (SH censors this word!)
distrito ligero rojo = red light district
For myself, I personally consider that Merelee maintains an awful lot of "credibilty" here on the FNI SH BB, both on mining matters in the Sudbury Basin, and even on "tourist" Spanish terminology for that matter! I'll listen to her any day!
Keep up the good work Merelee!
