RE: CIBC''''s Plexman believes EnCana undervalued

RE: CIBC''''s Plexman believes EnCana undervaluedNP says CIBC's Plexman believes EnCana undervalued EnCana Corp (C:ECA) Shares Issued 759,969,516 Last Close 6/14/2007 $69.28 Friday June 15 2007 - In the News The National Post reports in its Friday edition that buying EnCana on the dips in the last year has been a winning strategy. The Post's David Berman writes that EnCana shares have been on a tear this year. The stock hit its 52-week low of $48.28 last September. The stock closed Thursday in Toronto at $69.28, up $2.22 on the day. In the last year EnCana stock has climbed more than three times the pace of the S&P/TSX composite index. EnCana stock is outpacing rivals Canadian Natural Resources, Suncor Energy, Talisman, Petro-Canada and Imperial Oil. Rival company shares lag with returns averaging 10 per cent this year, compared with EnCana's 29 per cent. EnCana's outperformance is remarkable, given the price of natural gas -- which represents about 80 per cent of the firm's total energy production -- remains well off its post-Katrina high. Some investors are betting the warmth of the past winter, which depressed natural gas prices, is unlikely to be repeated. Others are betting this year's Atlantic hurricane season will threaten energy production in the Gulf Coast and send gas prices higher. CIBC World Markets analyst Robert Plexman says EnCana shares are undervalued relative to its peers.
