"The Shore Gold(en) Boy"I heard a rumour that Premier Lorne Calvert has asked Ken MacNeill to model for a statue (18 feet high) to be placed on the dome of the Saskatchewan Legislature in Regina. To be known as "The Shore Gold(en) Boy". Similar to the one in Winnipeg, gilded in 24K gold-leaf. In the statue's right hand, held high above his head (fes'tooned with willow branches), would be a lighted (white), blinking, 100-carat diamond, and, cradled in his left arm, a milk-can overflowing with diamonds that protect the statue's modesty. Stick a gopher or two on there, attached like wings, to the Boy's ankles, say, and maybe a hockey stick at his feet. On the pediment would be inscribed some worthy phrase, such as "Saskatchewan's Diamond Jubilee" or even "Carat River" - I dunno - better be something bilingual, and in Plains Cree too - maybe I'm micromanaging the statue too much. And you could see the light from Fort a la Corne, probably. Anyway, I don't know if there's any truth to this rumour. Anybody else hear about it? No? You'll agree that Investors could certainly use the promotion, eh? Do your own DD.
