OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Jul 18, 2007 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX News Network) --
Everton Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:EVR) (FRANKFURT:ERV) is pleased to provide a mid-summer update on its comprehensive and systematic summer exploration programs in both the Opinaca region of James Bay, Quebec around Goldcorp's Eleonore gold deposit (initial gold resource of 2.8 million ounces), and on Everton's additional twenty-three 100%-owned properties located in the greater James Bay region of northern Quebec.
Opinaca & Wildcat Projects - Opinaca Region
Everton's properties in the Opinaca region consist of Everton's 100%-owned Wildcat 1-8 properties and two optioned properties Opinaca A & Opinaca B (optioned from Azimut Exploration). The summer 2007 exploration program commenced on May 14 with the mobilization of a crew of 20 people to the Everton camp located 7 kilometers northeast of Goldcorp's Eleonore gold deposit. The focus of the exploration program consists of intensive prospecting, sampling and trenching over existing targets, including the 10-kilometer gold-bearing Claude-Manuel corridor between the Claude Target on Opinaca B (under option with Azimut) and the Manuel Showings (12.01 g/t Au over 4.6 meters in channel) on Everton's 100%-owned Wildcat 5 property. Prospecting and sampling has also commenced on new anomalous gold areas.
During the summer program to-date more than 4,000 outcrops on existing targets and new anomalous areas were prospected by the field crews, yielding a total of 1,100 rocks samples, 465 till samples and 550 soil samples. Furthermore, a total of 20 different trenches were also mechanically dug in the Manuel Showing area, where new rock sampling returned gold values of 28.2 g/t Au, 18.6 g/t Au and 12.1 g/t Au on selected samples and 2.76 g/t over 1.5 meter on a channel cut. These new results are located east and west of the original "Manuel Showing" over a strike length of 35 meters. More than half of the rock samples have already been sent to and are being processed by Laboratoire Expert of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, while soil and till samples have been sent to ALS Chemex of Val d'Or, Quebec. Results are expected by the end of August and the Summer 2007 field program is expected to be completed by the end of September.
Drill Program - Opinaca Region
A drilling program is also currently being designed to commence in mid-August to test coinciding soil, till and induced polarization anomalies at the Smiley Target located on Opinaca A, approximately 4 km away from Goldcorp's Eleonore gold deposit.
Other James Bay Properties
Outside of the Opinaca region in James Bay, Everton has contracted the consulting firm IOS Geoscientifiques from Chicoutimi, Quebec, to conduct an extensive lake-bottom sediment survey totalling more than 1,150 samples over some of its 100%-owned properties located within a 200 kilometer radius from the Opinaca-Wildcat package, namely Candlestick, Conviac, Corvet Sud, Gauchet, Jobert, Lemoyne, Morand, Pine Hill Nord, Duncan and Wildcat 8. This program should be completed within the next two weeks. For the location of these properties please visit Everton's website at www.evertonresources.com
