Will History Repeat itself Noront Nickel Dis SUBJECT: Another Great Nickel Discovery Posted By: olesmoker Post Time: 9/11/2007 18:29 Excellent Read, In mid 1968 a prospector and his wife were working the Kambalda belt in an area near Mount Windarra. Inconspicuous gossans’ were identified and found to contain values in nickel (0.7%) and copper (0.5%). Surface work continued and by September 1969 the company was ready to drill test their target. First assays released included 40 feet of 3.56% nickel and 0.55% copper. Share price of Poseidon moved from the $1.00 level to close at $6.70 late in September. Despite some disappointing assays the share price continued higher reaching $40.00 early in November. Exploration success generated by Poseidon attracted more players and market attention continued to focus on the area. On December 23rd, 1969 Poseidon rose to $175. per share, representing a $100. increase in six trading days, Poseidon’s share price eventually hit $280. per share before market awareness and reality sank in. Although the Mount Windarra deposit proved to be one of the better nickel discoveries in Australia, market Speculation drove Poseidon to levels never imagined by any of the participanta.
