Font: * * * * QUITO (Reuters) - Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa's party is ahead in Sunday's vote for a 130-member national assembly to rewrite the constitution, according to initial results of a government-linked exit poll.
Correa's Alianza Pais movement has 14 to 15 seats out of the 24 national candidates for the assembly, according to the survey results from pollster SP Investigaciones y Estudios, which has worked with Correa.
Results from 100 provincial candidates were yet to be released. The exit poll results also did not include six delegates selected by Ecuadoreans living overseas.
A 66-seat majority Correa to control the assembly, which he says should dissolve Congress and implement sweeping reforms to curb the influence of traditional political parties widely blamed for years of instability.
An official tally of the election results could be delayed because of the complex proportional representation system and seat assignment.
