Threats are dangerous.The resources belong to the people. I get a great kick out of the oil companies year after year making record profits and yet scream when wages rise for the workers that make those same profits possible.
Now let us put a new idea on the table. Oil companies are threatening they will stop investing. Well what if the government turns around and says....Use it or Lose it?????
You see those that become too greedy and do not share the wealth, where they have made the wealth, and turn around and threaten the people, are very dillusional at the extent at which others will gladly jump at the chance of taking the leases over and developing them.
The greed has already lead to many layoffs because they chose not to share some of that profit with the common workers. Then now, they yell about royalty review as to those cutbacks. LOL unbelievable BS in my opinion. Is it the commodity price? Is it the higher service price they have to pay? Or is it just plain old GREED?
I believe it is the later and a great shame. I say, give it to those that want to Use the resources for the good of all people. No one is stating you can't make a profit. BUT, I also believe when threats are used it shows the pure greedy nature and disrespect for the common person.
Just thought I would add a new angle for discussion.
